July is one of the hottest months in Budapest with some heat waves, so many of the things to do by day are either escaping from the heat, and soak in the outdoor Budapest baths and pools, or staying indoors in the air conditioned concert halls, museums, market halls, shopping malls, party halls etc. In addition to our general top 10 things to do in Budapest, here is our summer list of things to do in July (hopefully you are staying for more than one day in Budapest).

Concerts in Budapest in July 2013
Enjoy a beautiful concert in Budapest: there are great classical and light music concerts, as well as random concerts in bars and restaurants. Church concerts are special with their unique atmosphere, and a nice cool air on warm summer nights. The most prestigious performers can be seen either in the Sports Arena in Budapest or in the Palace of Arts.
As the Budapest Opera House is only open for guided tours in July, we suggest listening to the singers of the Opera House and watching the dancers and artists of the Operetta Theatre in this beautiful 2 hour cruise: Opera and Operetta Concert and Show on the Danube Cruise in Budapest
Tattoo and Music Festival in Durer Kert Budapest or the Sun Goes Down Electronic Music Festival on Margaret Island are for the young crowds – again, very popular July concerts in Budapest.

Things to do in July in Budapest
Summer Festival Budapest: the cultural festival of the summer launches in June with loads of concerts, theatre performances, parties, art exhibitions, festivals and fairs on lots of venues all around Budapest (which is reported to be more spread out than many tourists expect in their post-trip Budapest travel reports).
The most important festival venues are the open air stages on the Margaret Island (Margitsziget), where concerts and dance shows are on, and in the Varosmajor park on the Buda side (the latter mostly features Hungarian theatre shows in Hungarian).
July Parties in Budapest
In July there are many Budapest parties in open air party venues in the city. Two special parties stand out from the usual nightlife events, which are unique in Budapest: the pool parties and the river boat parties on the Danube.
July Bath Parties in Budapest bring amazing laser shows and bath discos in Szechenyi Bath for late night pool parties. Just get your swimwear and enjoy the night in this visual / tactile and all in all fun and sensual place.
July Boat Parties in Budapest are regular events in the month of July, you can even book a private boat party at an affordable price. Take the 11 pm boat ride on the Danube to warm up for the next Budapest bar (A38 club) where the boat ride ends.
Szecska Spa Parties are incredibly great pool parties in Szechenyi Bath: spa waters, music and party adding up as a ‘Sparty’. Definitely a must see and do for under 40 or so party goers.
Formula 1 Grand Prix Hungary in July
Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix is a unique sport event for those who love car races. Typically organized in July at the Hungaroring Grand Prix Circuit, which is a short ride from Budapest in the small town of Mogyorod.
One day before the whole insane Hungarian GP starts everyone (who has a ticket) can visit the pits to see the cars and the teams close up. See the map of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Budapest Pride in July
Budapest Pride festival has moving dates – anytime from June to September, but typically at the end of June or the beginning of July. A cultural festival with some films too. The festival has been booed by many intolerant locals. Yet, Budapest Pride is still going on for many years.
Chain Bridge Summer Festival in July
The Summer on the Chain Bridge Festival had been running for years, but in the last few years (due to major restoration works in historical bridges in Budapest like the Liberty Bridge or Margaret Bridge), this festival has been on a break. We hope it will come back once things get back to normal.
Summer on the Chain Bridge: this summer festival (from June to August) is special in a way that the festival venue is the iconic Budapest attraction, Chain Bridge, which gets closed down for transport in the summer, turning into a pedestrian only festival zone – you can listen or even dance to jazz, folksy, swing, rock etc. concerts (free), you can buy tasteful and good quality handcrafted gifts at the Hungarian souvenir stalls, or try yummy Hungarian specialties (the savoury snack Langos, the sweet cylindrical shaped pastry ‘Kurtoskalacs’ which is ideal as a ‘to go’ dessert, and drinks (e.g. wines, palinka, unicum). Relaxed, fun things to do on the bridge – right in downtown Budapest.
